Dr. Wendy Pogozelski received her B.S. in Chemistry from Chatham University and her PhD from The John Hopkins University. She was an Office of Naval Research post-doctoral fellow at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. In 1996, she came to Geneseo where she now holds the rank of Distinguished Teaching Professor and serves as Chair of the Chemistry Department. In her laboratory work, Dr. Pogozelski and her students investigate the effects of radiation on mitochondria. Since developing an interest in the biochemistry of nutrition, Dr. Pogozelski has been working with an international group of scientists and clinicians who are trying to bridge the gulf between scientific research and nutrition education.

Dr. Sarah Hallberg is the medical director and founder of the Indiana University-Arnett Health Medical Weight Loss Program. She created the program almost 3 years ago and since then it has helped hundreds of patients reverse and prevent type 2 diabetes through low carb and high fat nutrition. Dr. Hallberg received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2002 and practised as a primary care physician for eight years before launching the medical weight-loss program. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. She also holds certification by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist. She is the only physician in the country to be certified in this “lifestyle trifecta”. Dr. Hallberg also has a master’s degree in exercise physiology and has worked as a fitness trainer and instructor.

Professor Timothy Noakes is professor of exercise and sports science at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He has run more than 70 marathons and ultra-marathons, and is the author of the running book Lore of Running. Over the past thirty years Prof. Noakes has contributed significantly to the scientific literature through his exploration of topical exercise science and sports medicine issues including marathon running and the heart, the biochemical and physiological parameters of endurance athletes, sudden death during endurance exercise, injuries in rugby players, understanding what makes African runners so fast and water intoxication in endurance runners. By nature of his chosen field of academia and his active participation in endurance sports, Tim is not only interested in the theory of sports science, he lives it.
