091 Getting Focused with Alessandra Wall PhD

Posted in health, fitness, low carb, paleo, diet, primal, stress, psychology, lchf, addiction by smashthefat on November 5th, 2014

00:0000:00
Alessandra obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a focus in child and adolescent psychology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. In addition to being a practising psychotherapist she also holds a Level One CrossFit certificate, and is the Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach and Executive Director at CrossFit Elysium in North Park. In her original psychotherapy practice she worked daily with people to identify needs, improve self-care and manage stress, yet she was not using these same skills in her own life. She set out to restore balance in her world. It took time, by identifying needs, priorities and values that she wanted to have in her life. She had to figure out why she was not doing all the things she knew would make her happier and feel better. Bridging the gap between knowledge and action to develop a realistic plan of action was the key to balance and happiness for her. In Alessandra's own words "Creating change is an ongoing process that requires effort, mindful dedication and awareness".

Robbie Anderson speaks on behalf of Prof. Steve Peters about the ground-breaking mind model, The Chimp Paradox. That helped the British cycling team in the London 2012 Olympics and become the best in the world. Robbie gained a First Class honours in Sport Science, and double Masters Awards in Psychology and Sport and Exercise Psychology after injury retired him young from a promising rugby career. He has worked alongside Prof. Steve Peters since 2008, applying the Chimp Model across varied age ranges, case histories, and professional industries. Most recently Robbie has been applying his knowledge and experience in the Olympic sport environment with GB Taekwondo. Robbie describes his passion for helping others to realise a level of insight, and practical skill, conducive to achieving self-fulfilment in life. Away from his professional delivery with Chimp Management Ltd, Robbie continues to enjoy a competitive drive himself, partaking in middle distance running events and competing nationally in the sport of Canoe Polo.
